“Honoring the Past…Envisioning the Future”
Zonta International District 3 Conference 2007
September 28-30
Dear District 3 Zontians,
It is my pleasure to invite all of you to attend our District 3 Conference 2007. It is an especially auspicious conference as we are celebrating our 60th “Birthday.” The theme of the conference is “Honoring the Past…Envisioning the Future.” We will be hearing from past governors about the highlights of their biennia and we will be looking forward, endeavoring to help one another in innovative ways to continue the work to which we have dedicated ourselves, advancing the status of women both locally and globally.
After 60 years, District 3 Zontians face many of the same challenges faced in 1947 when our District was chartered. We have made strides, but we know we must continue to work steadfastly. To that end, our workshop sessions at the conference will concentrate on four areas: Membership, Status of Women/Service, Advocacy and Fundraising. Each session will be interactive with a panel of members from every part of District 3 who will discuss best practices and attendees will be able to ask questions and take part in real dialogue.
We are proud that we have two speakers who will, I am sure, inspire us. We will hear from Joanne Sandler, Deputy Director of UNIFEM as well as New York State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins who will discuss the new trafficking legislation passed by the New York State Legislature which is a landmark law in the United States.
District 3 Presidents will be giving their reports on the highlights of their Zonta year and the nominees for District 3 officers for the 2008-2010 biennium will be telling us of their qualifications.
Of course, we know that District 3 Zontians are not “all work and no play” people. We will have a “gala” banquet on Saturday night and celebrate our 60th in style.
Everyone will gain from attending Conference 2007. “Seasoned” Zontians will be rejuvenated and “first timers” will begin to enjoy the camaraderie that conference brings.
I look forward to seeing all of you in Stamford!
Sincerely,
Mary Ann
