Conference 2009, October 2-4, Alexandria, Virginia

Dear Zonta District 3 Members,

Your Call to Conference 2009 has arrived.  Below are links to all the pertinent information you need.  We are happy to have a wonderful venue, at the new Westin Hotel in Alexandria, VA. 

Our theme for the conference is “Women in the 21st Century.”  To expand on that theme, we will bring cutting edge information to you in our workshops on: Technology, “Diving into Social Networking”; Communications, “Different Approaches to Media, Print and Radio”; Branding, “Zonta?  What’s that?” and Health and Fitness, “Taking Care of You.”

This is the conference where your delegates get to vote for the officers who will lead District 3 in the 2010-2012 biennium.  We’ve arranged to have online delegate and proxy registration as well as registration for the Zonta store, the basket raffle and the memorial service.  Your delegates will also be voting on proposed bylaws changes which the club presidents will receive at least 60 days before the conference and we urge all to review them.

We will have a special guest speaker at lunch on Saturday.  Nicole Peacock of the U.S. State Department will give us an update on the Once a Month Program.  We urge all clubs to bring donations of sanitary products to the conference.  Please participate.

We are also requesting that clubs each bring a basket or prize to be raffled off at the conference.

Our Zonta International Representative is Heddy Tangen Steffensen.  Heddy is a member of the Zonta Club of Stavanger, Norway and is presently serving as ZI/ZIF Director.  She has been a Zonta member since 1982 and will bring greetings from our ZI President Beryl Sten.  We know you will all greet her warmly.

We must not forget that Conference 2009 will not be all work and no play.  Get out your fanciest “duds” for our Saturday night gala.

The Zonta Club of Washington, DC, our host club, has worked long and hard to make this a memorable conference.  I look forward to seeing you October 2-4 in Alexandria.
